Job Description: Inside Salesperson 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Inside Salesperson with distribution experience in the Electrical and Heating Equipment Industry. This position requires heavy phone / email customer interaction, order entry, quoting, purchasing, and expediting orders.

Job/Candidate Requirements:

  • 3 years of inside sales / customer service distribution experience in the electrical / heating industry
  • Ability to read detailed documents such as specifications and equipment schedules
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and working knowledge of a CRM database
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and externally
  • Top-rate organizational skills - ability to multi-task and manage tasks effectively in fast paced environment
  • Highly competitive and motivated• Solid understanding of sales metrics
  • Creativity and an ability to convey and sell new ideas
  • Strong negotiation skills are preferred

Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Order entry
  • Obtaining quotes from vendors, checking price and delivery, including special pricing
  • Quoting customers
  • Handling customer return process
  • Expediting Orders
  • Purchasing Parts
  • Updating the CRM Database
  • Performing research as needed
  • Customer follow-up
  • Participation in onsite channel partner seminars

  • Technical product support for industrial controls, heating controls, heaters, PLC's, AC/DC drives and sensors.
  • Ability to perform and manage control panel building process, including job costing and quoting, control panel layout and design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoSketch electrical schematics and panel layout drawings
  • Proficiency with Solidworks
  • 3 years minimum experience

Stockroom Clerk

You will be responsible for the entire stockroom organization and inventory accuracy. You will work closely with our inside sales to ensure all items are ordered for each job in a timely manner. You will also work management to address any inaccurate quantities in our inventory. As Merrimac stockroom personnel, you will also pick all the component parts (kitting) according to the job sheet when new jobs arrive.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Organizing the stockroom area
  • Kit job for the manufacturing floor
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
  • Report any quantity discrepancies to the supervisor when pulling material from the stockroom
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses or other areas

Job/Candidate Requirements:

  • Preferred High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience in Kitting and stockroom management
  • Organized, detail oriented, responsive team player

Engineering Co-Op Student

As Merrimac’s engineering CO-OP student, you will be working in a fast-paced environment. You’ll discover what it means to be an engineer in Electrical design and manufacturing industries. You’ll gain the ability to communicate with customers, understand their needs, and create electrical panels schematics and layout. You will gain experience of how to spec out electrical components and apply them to your designs. Leadership experience will be gained by managing your and/or other engineering projects in production. Additionally, you will learn how to solve problems that our technicians or customers may face.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Technical product support for industrial controls, heating controls, heaters, PLCs, AC/DC drives and sensors
  • Perform and manage control panel building process, including job costing and quoting, control panel layout and design
  • Create/modify electrical schematics and panel layout drawings
  • Work on projects utilizing Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Communicate with customers to quote design/modify requested project

Job/Candidate Requirements:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • A team player–Willingness to support and help others on their projects
  • Minimum knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
  • Adequate knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Highly motivated to learn and grow.
